We hear the term investment all the time when it comes to our education and our career.

But do you ever stop to think about applying the same level of investment to your body, your mind, your wellbeing?

Your life only gets better when you do. Work on yourself and the rest will follow…

Here are just some of the investments I have made for myself in recent years:

Weekly massages: $10-$60 a session

This is a no brainer for me. Even if I’m short on time and I can only fit in a $10, 10 minute neck massage. It’s so comforting in knowing no matter how crazy busy life is, I have a little time for me each week to relax and be pampered.

Regular reflexology & cupping: $25-$45 a session

I’m all about crowding out the bad by adding in more good. I eat well most of the time, but hey I’m also partial to the odd night that involves too many drinks or a heavy dinner at an amazing restaurant. Shock horror, sometimes I even enjoy a bit of take away.

Rules are shit in my books so I don’t have them.

But what I do have is the idea, that by adding in more of the good stuff, it naturally crowds out some of the not so good. Reflexology and cupping is one of the ways I get my regular detoxification happening and a bit of balance back into my days.

Infrared Sauna: $20-$40 a session

I was going to regular sessions at my local wellness clinic and realised if I loved it so much, I might as well buy one. So I did. And it’s awesome. The ultimate stress relief.

Water Purifier: $350

Water is one of the easiest ways to keep us well. I prefer to avoid the nasties in tap water so I have invested in a ceramic water purifier, which removes most of them and saves me a fortune. It also reduces my contribution of  the environmental impact of bottled water.

Organic groceries $100-$150 per week

Yes some organic groceries are more expensive. If it’s not in your budget to switch over all of your groceries, it’s worth checking out the dirty dozen and clean fifteen list, which I wrote about here:  www.facebook.com/heidi.everett

These are the fruits and vegetables that contain the highest & lowest  amounts of pesticides. Following the guidelines on this list will significantly reduce your toxin load. I have also been fortunate to find an organic grocer that is no more expensive, in fact often cheaper, than the supermarket. Do your research of what’s available in your local area, you may be surprised.

Natural make up & skin care: $50 per month

With all the new beautiful products regularly hitting our shelves it’s now really easy to keep your toxic load right down and invest in natural and organic make up and body products. For me, I literally threw all the nasties out in one day and bought replacements for everything. But, you can ease your way in. Each time you run out of something, replace it with a more natural, kinder version. Your skin and your body will thank you.

Knowledge: Ongoing $

Even though I have qualifications and experience, I believe in never ever stop learning. I am always enrolled in a self-development based course on top of running my biz. I’m always working on being a better person and bringing more peace into my life.

Connection: Free!

This will be different for all of us, but for me, it’s being around animals. The connection I feel, the time I lose and the love I have in indescribable. I feel most connected with the world when I am in the presence of an animal… For you it may be surfing, the bush, being in the garden, being around your friends. Whatever it is, discover it and make it a regular, non-negotiable part of your life.
