Domestic violence is at crisis point in Australia. It seems everyday we are hearing about another live lost at the hands of someone that they once loved. I hate to think of all the cases that don’t make it to media, not to mention the ones that never get reported. It breaks my heart to know of the suffering that is happening all around us and at this very minute.
Sad truths about violence against women:
1 in 5 women have experienced sexual violence.
1 in 3 women have experienced physical violence.
1 in 4 have experienced emotional abuse by a current or former partner.
58% of those that have experienced domestic violence have not reported it to the police.
24% have never sought advice or help.
Heartbreaking….
It’s utterly devastating to read these statistics and it’s clear we are only seeing a small glimpse of how widespread and big this issue has become.
