I often get asked about what foods I eat. So, I’m giving you a sneak peek into my fridge to show what I stock up with regularly and what I love to keep on hand to make eating well easy and fuss free.

Organic Eggs

Are one the animal products I do eat on a weekly basis. I like to boil 3-4 on a Sunday night for the working week ahead and have them ready as an easy snack or to accompany a quick meal when I’m short on time.

Coconut Water

I find it handy to have after I’ve had a decent workout or if I am feeling a little dehydrated. I also use it to add a liquid base into my smoothies and in the choc mousse I make weekly.

Mineral Water

I find it hard to drink water, actually, let’s go one step further. I can’t stand water! It bores the hell out of me. So I mix it up by including a good quality mineral water. I add a little lime or lemon squeeze which gives it some punch.

Berries

My fruit of choice, I always buy a punnet or two of strawberries or blueberries. Great in smoothies, or to snack on straight out of the fridge. I also like to freeze them for a yum as a summer snack.

Cauliflower

I love pizza and I am pretty happy that I have perfected my cauliflower pizza base. I tend to buy cauliflowers when they are cheap at my grocery store (organic ones can be in excess of $8 each) and I chop them up in the food processor and freeze until  I want to make a batch of pizzas. I find one cauliflower will make up to 20 mini pizzas, which covers me for 4 meals.

Pesto

I usually make my own when I do my weekly cook up, which is a simple recipe of pine nuts, basil, salt and olive oil. Great to mix into salad, as a dip, spread or a base for my cauliflower pizzas.

Green leafy vegetables.

These are part of my daily smoothie mix. Most come from my veggie garden (all very easy to grow) I usually use a mix of spinach, kale and cos lettuce as the greens for smoothies.

Avocado

Another staple, I tend to buy 3-6 avocados a week. I use them in my daily salads and as a base for my choc mousse. I also make a yum avocado pine nut pesto sauce which works beautifully on my raw zucchini noodles.

Almond meal

This is the main base ingredient (along with eggs) in my grain free pancakes that I make each week. I also use almond meal in a lot of cooking, including my cauliflower pizza bases and most of the slices and protein balls I whip up.

Flaxmeal / LSA / Bee Pollen

These are my jars of supplements I add to smoothies, smoothie bowls, homemade muesli, for an extra boost. I  personally don’t find seeds overly enjoyable, so I get my intake by eating LSA which includes blended linseed (flaxseed) sunflower seeds and almonds.

Almonds

I make a weekly batch of almond milk. A lot healthier and cheaper than the store-bought variety. I just use 1 part almonds to 4 parts filtered water. Blend, strain, serve. It takes less than five minutes and lasts for 3-4 days. If I do need to buy a store bought version, Nutty Bruce  is certainly one of the healthiest with the least amount of additives and preservatives. You can get it from most health food shops and more recently, I have noticed it stocked in IGA.

Hazelnuts

I’m obsessed with Nutella, so always keeping an eye out for healthier Nutella tasting recipes in the forms of spreads, slices and biscuits. Hazelnuts are the base ingredient, so I always have some handy for when I am feeling Nutella inclined.

SauerKraut

I am in the process of healing my belly, so fermented foods are perfect for gut health. I find a lot of the sauerkrauts really full on with spices and I like this one as it’s still sour, but milder. It’s just cabbage and cucumber.
